Following a dismal 8-9 record in 2024, the Miami Dolphins have decided to retain both general manager Chris Grier and coach Mike McDaniel in their current roles.
Dolphins owner Stephen Ross announced the decision to the public just hours after Miami’s 32–20 loss to the New York Jets on Sunday night.
“As we now look towards 2025, our football operation will continue to be led by Chris Grier and Mike McDaniel with my full support,” Ross said in a press release. “The Dolphins benefit from their good working relationship, and I think consistency is important.
is adequate. We will critically examine our shortcomings and implement the required adjustments to achieve our ultimate objective of creating and maintaining a championship-winning team.”
This season marked the Dolphins’ first postseason absence in McDaniel’s three seasons as head coach. His record during the regular season is 28–23.
Grier joined the Miami organisation as a scout in 2000 and has been the general manager since this year.
After the game, standout receiver Tyreek Hill also caused a stir by expressing his dissatisfaction with the organisation and said that he needed to reevaluate his career.
