It’s not always easy to say goodbye, even though the Boston Red Sox knew it was coming.

In his two seasons with the Red Sox, relief pitcher Chris Martin was the best. After having the lowest ERA of any pitcher in baseball in 2023 (minimum: 50 innings), he had a respectable but somewhat unfortunate 2024 season.

Martin appears to be intending for the 2025 season to be his final one at the age of 38, though anyone may obviously alter their mind at any time. A homecoming was obviously on the mind of the Texas native who formerly played for his local team for a season and a half.

The Texas Rangers declared via social media on Monday that they had reached a one-year agreement.
