Lions DB Ifeatu Melifonwu discussed his “frustrating” season, during which he had to cope with numerous ailments.
Melifonwu stated on the team’s website, “It was really frustrating.” It’s been really annoying to fight the pain, get back to playing, and then have a random injury keep me out once again. I wasn’t going to give up since I knew how close we were. I intended to return this season.
Although Melifonwu, who is in a contract year, acknowledged that a strong finish to the season might help him this offseason, he is more concerned with assisting his team in achieving their ultimate goal this year.
Melifonwu stated, “It definitely can help,” in reference to concluding the season strongly before free agency. “I won’t say that the end-of-year games are more significant because all of them are, but things are emphasized. But I don’t think that way. Contracts and all that are not on my mind. Every week, all I can think about is how I can play my best, support the squad, and help in any way I can.
