Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell stated on Tuesday that cornerback Davis (jaw) is unlikely to be activated from injured reserve (IR) during the playoffs, according to Nolan Bianchi of The Detroit News.
Davis has remained on IR since suffering a fractured jaw in Week 15, and his potential return for a late postseason appearance had always seemed uncertain. Given the severity of his injury, the team does not anticipate his return before the end of the playoff run. The veteran cornerback, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent in the upcoming offseason, will now focus on making a full recovery ahead of potential free agency negotiations.
During the 2024 regular season, Davis played in 13 games and recorded 56 total tackles, with 42 of them being solo stops. He also contributed 11 passes defensed, which included two interceptions, along with one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries. His performance throughout the season demonstrated his impact in the secondary, but his injury ultimately sidelined him for the critical final stretch. As Davis works toward regaining full health, his future in Detroit remains uncertain, and his availability for the next season will likely depend on his recovery progress and market interest in free agency.
