For the third consecutive season, the Philadelphia Eagles will be searching for a new offensive coordinator.
After securing a victory in Super Bowl LIX against the Kansas City Chiefs, Kellen Moore departed to take on the role of head coach for the New Orleans Saints.
Here are five potential candidates for the position as the Eagles’ coaching staff experiences another transition under head coach Nick Sirianni.
- Kevin Patullo
Philadelphia may once again look internally for their next offensive coordinator, with Kevin Patullo emerging as a strong candidate.
Patullo currently serves as the Eagles’ passing game coordinator and associate head coach. A trusted member of Sirianni’s staff, he has been with the team since 2021 and took on additional responsibilities in 2023.
Despite being passed over twice for the offensive coordinator role—first in 2023 when Brian Johnson was promoted and again in 2024 when Moore was hired—Patullo has played a key role in the Eagles’ offensive game planning and play-calling strategies.
- Frank Reich
A familiar face to Eagles fans, Frank Reich, 63, was the offensive coordinator during Philadelphia’s first-ever Super Bowl win in 2018 under Doug Pederson.
Following that success, Reich became head coach of the Indianapolis Colts, where he hired Sirianni as his offensive coordinator. Their close relationship dates back to their time together on the Chargers’ coaching staff.
Sirianni even made headlines in 2022 when he dedicated a win over the Colts to Reich after his midseason firing. Most recently, Reich had a brief stint as the head coach of the Carolina Panthers in 2023 but was dismissed after a 1-10 start.
- Josh McCown
Josh McCown, a former Eagles quarterback, is another candidate linked to the position.
McCown spent the 2019 season with Philadelphia as Carson Wentz’s backup, even playing in a playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks while dealing with a torn hamstring.
Currently, McCown is the quarterbacks coach for the Minnesota Vikings, a role he previously held with the Panthers under Reich. Though reports suggest he is unlikely to leave Minnesota, his ties to the Eagles make him a name to watch. He was also a candidate for the New York Jets head coaching job, which ultimately went to Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn.
In 2024, McCown played a key role in reviving Sam Darnold’s career, helping him earn a Pro Bowl selection and leading the Vikings to 14 wins.
- Jerrod Johnson
Jerrod Johnson, 36, was previously considered for the Eagles’ offensive coordinator vacancy following their struggles in the 2023 season.
Currently the quarterbacks coach for the Houston Texans, Johnson was a finalist for the role that ultimately went to Moore. Since joining Houston in 2023, he has overseen the development of C.J. Stroud, who won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and led the Texans to a playoff victory.
Although Houston won another playoff game in 2024, the offense took a step back, leading to the dismissal of offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, who later joined the Miami Dolphins as a senior passing game coordinator.
Johnson has prior experience working under Reich in Indianapolis as an offensive quality control coach and reportedly has connections with Sirianni. Additionally, he briefly signed with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2011 after playing quarterback at Texas A&M, though he was released shortly after.
- Marcus Brady
Another coach with ties to Sirianni, Marcus Brady is currently the passing game coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers under Jim Harbaugh.
Brady previously worked with the Eagles in 2022 as an offensive consultant and in 2023 as a senior offensive assistant. Before that, he was the quarterbacks coach in Indianapolis under Sirianni and later became the Colts’ offensive coordinator. However, his tenure in that role was cut short when Reich fired him midway through the 2022 season.
As the Eagles navigate another offseason coaching change, these five candidates stand out as potential replacements for Moore as offensive coordinator.
