Tennessee senior guard named Bob Cousy Award finalist
Tennessee senior guard Zakai Zeigler was named a finalist for the 2025 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
The annual award is named for Bob Cousy, a former Boston Celtics and Holy Cross basketball player, and recognizes the top point guard in NCAA Division I men’s basketball.
Zeigler, who was a midseason top 10 selection last year, was named a finalist for the prestigious honor for the first time in his career. He is one of five finalists, joining Walter Clayton Jr. (Florida), Kam Jones (Marquette), Mark Sears (Alabama) and Braden Smith (Purdue).
A native of Long Island, New York, Zeigler is averaging 13.7 points, 7.2 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game this season. He has recorded six assists in 23 games and 13 eight-plus assist contests in 2024-25.
Zeigler was also recognized on the midseason watch lists for the Naismith Trophy, Oscar Robertson Trophy and the Wooden Award. He is one of 15 players on the Naismith Defensive Player of the Year Award watch list.
