According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Virginia Tech transfer left tackle Xavier Chaplin has officially joined Auburn. With two years of eligibility left, Chaplin said he was thrilled to be joining the Tigers.
Chaplin remarked, “It feels like home because of the people here.” “I can just be Xavier; I don’t have to change who I am.”
He made the decision after a powerful two-day official visit to Auburn.
“It was an amazing experience,” he said. “I loved the atmosphere and the people.”
The necessity for a left tackle at Auburn was a major factor in his choice.
He clarified, “It was a significant factor because they demonstrated to me how much they depend on me, how they will look after me, and how they can help me become the player I want to be.” Coach Jake Thornton made it clear that I am capable of greatness.
Chaplin was first exposed to Thornton’s coaching methods, workouts, and the general demands of playing for Auburn. Chaplin was unable to name a single feature that made Auburn stand out when asked.
“All of it,” he said. “The program has a rich history, and Auburn has a lot to offer.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Chaplin was ranked No. 8 in South Carolina, No. 665 overall, and No. 43 among offensive tackles in the 2022 recruiting class.
