Rodgers’ Reported Vikings Pitch Suggests Steelers Aren’t His Top Choice
As the NFL Draft approaches, the uncertainty surrounding Aaron Rodgers continues to drag on — and each day makes his intentions a bit more obvious. While most teams have solidified their quarterback plans for next season, the Pittsburgh Steelers remain in limbo, waiting on Rodgers’ decision.
After losing out on Justin Fields and Russell Wilson in free agency, the Steelers’ quarterback room is down to Mason Rudolph heading into 2025. While they could still target a rookie like Shedeur Sanders, Jaxson Dart, or Will Howard in the draft, their primary focus for months has been landing Rodgers.
However, Rodgers doesn’t appear to be all-in on Pittsburgh. According to reports, he has been exploring other possibilities, including reportedly pitching himself to the Minnesota Vikings as a one-year solution. NFL insider Albert Breer shared that Rodgers told the Vikings he could be the piece to take them to a Super Bowl and would even mentor second-year quarterback J.J. McCarthy, who missed last season due to an ACL injury.
Rodgers joining Minnesota would be a major move, especially with weapons like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, and his former Packers teammate Aaron Jones already in place.
Meanwhile, the Steelers are likely growing frustrated with the lack of clarity. While they’ve shown public support for Rudolph, it’s hard to imagine they truly feel confident heading into a season in a division dominated by quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson.
