JUST IN: Texans to Add Support for Super Star in 2024 NFL Draft, according to NFL.com projections.

The Houston Texans’ use of the 23rd choice in the 2018 NFL Draft to improve offensive support for C.J. Stroud is a compelling argument.

The Texans already have plenty of offensive weaponry, but with Dalton Schultz and Noah Brown, two of Stroud’s favorite targets, entering free agency, they may consider acquiring a pass catcher.

However, with cornerbacks Steven Nelson, Tavierre Thomas, and Kris Boyd about to enter free agency, the Texans must address significant defensive needs, notably pass defense.

With that in mind, NFL.com analyst Eric Edholm predicts the Texans will select Clemson Tigers cornerback Nate Wiggins with their first-round choice, giving Houston a tall and athletic counterpart to Derek Stingley Jr.

“There’s a strong case for using this selection to upgrade the talent around C.J. Stroud on offense, but the Texans also have some pressing defensive needs to consider,” he said. “CB Steven Nelson is a free agent-to-be. Wiggins would provide Houston with a lengthy, athletically gifted complement to Derek Stingley Jr.

The former Clemson star finished his career with the Tigers making 60 tackles (49 solo), three tackles for loss, one sack, three interceptions, and 21 passes defended.
