While pointing out that West Ham manager David Moyes would be concerned if Kalvin Phillips sustains an injury, Roy Keane hinted that the player will be furious at being benched on Sunday.

Roy Keane says Kalvin Phillips will be absolutely furious with David Moyes

Roy Keane believes that West Ham manager David Moyes will not be pleased at all that he benched Kalvin Phillips for Sunday’s match against Manchester United after starting him against Bournemouth the previous week.

During the January transfer window, the 28-year-old midfielder was loaned from Manchester City to the London Stadium by the Hammers manager.

Although Phillips is an excellent player, before Thursday night he had not started a Premier League match since May.

Why Moyes started him in a game when we didn’t really need him and then benched him for a match where we did is beyond me.

If you ask me, the management seemed strange.

Kalvin Phillips will be enraged with David Moyes, according to Roy Keane.

I made the following suggestion that Phillips will not be at all pleased that he did not start the game at Old Trafford:

“I believe the athlete will be furious from his perspective. He is a sitting midfielder, therefore you have to use your cunning to know when to sprint when you go out on loan to play some games where you receive seventy minutes. Naturally, David Moyes will be concerned about him in case he sustains an injury, but from the player’s perspective, he has to play and receive minutes. Now that he’s left City and is sitting on the bench, I imagine he’ll be furious.
