During their crushing defeat at home to Arsenal, Vincent Kompany acknowledged that his Burnley team was significantly behind the pace.

The Clarets lost 5-0 against Mikel Arteta’s team despite putting up one of their poorest games of the season thus far.

Kompany declined to put too much pressure on his players while offering no explanation for the awful performance.
It was insufficiently good. Today, Arsenal outperformed us in every way,” he remarked.

“Taking that one on the chin is difficult. If you go back over the last ten or fifteen games, we were always able to take positives from them, but today is one that we will have to accept, maybe say less, and make sure the team gets back into the game because that is all we have to focus on right now.

Not good enough': Vincent Kompany's immediate reaction to Burnley's heavy defeat to Arsenal

“You do occasionally have days like these. In our league, you are penalized and the disparity becomes evident when you have a day like this.

“Really strong team and individual performances are necessary to stay in games and have a chance of winning.” We’ve been seeing it for a while, but today wasn’t one of those days.
With a two-goal advantage at the half, Arsenal scored a third inside two minutes of the resumption after Odegaard opened the score in just four minutes.

The dreary afternoon at Turf Moor began at the beginning of both halves.

“You can write a story about every type of goal during a season when you’re at the bottom of the league,” Kompany continued.

“It would be incorrect of me to begin scrutinizing every aim that has been accomplished. That doesn’t clarify the game’s plot. You may argue that Liverpool had two set-piece goals, but other from that, you play excellently and have two excellent opportunities to win.

“Now? It’s not true as stated. Because of this, my main goal is to move fully into the next game and avoid letting current one drag on.
