Before Saturday’s matchup with Ipswich Town, the Swans manager spoke with the media.
Mykola Kuharevich and Charlie Patino will have their opportunities to shine in the upcoming weeks, according to Swansea City manager Luke Williams.
The seven-figure summer transfer Kuharevich, a striker from Ukraine, was benched for the fourth straight game on Tuesday night and has yet to make a start for the team.
With Liam Cullen and Jerry Yates managing just 12 goals between them in all competitions this season, Swansea’s recent run of results—five losses in their previous six games—has raised calls for the 22-year-old to be given a starting role.
In the Championship, Patino, on the other hand, has yet to play a full ninety minutes this season and has recently had to settle for a supporting position.
Williams claims that both guys are still on his mind.
“I believe it’s important to strike the correct balance between providing individuals a chance to succeed on the team and assisting them in gaining some stability, positive vibes, and improved comprehension. It’s challenging to strike a balance between that and drastic changes. It’s never easy.
“But I have no complaints—those guys are training really well.” Without a doubt, I anticipate seeing them on the field soon.”
Ipswich Town will present Swansea with another challenging test this weekend at the Swansea.com Stadium, following their crushing defeat at the hands of promotion contenders Leeds United on Tuesday.
Williams is still dealing with a number of injuries, with Bashir Humphreys being the most recent to go down in midweek.
“Bashir has recovered fairly well, but we still need to take extra care of him because he had some problems after the game,” he continued.
“We are pretty good overall, but there are a few tired bodies from so many hard games coming so close together.”
Prior to the weekend, Harry Darling will get an evaluation as he continues his recuperation from a quad injury. Azeem Abdulai (hamstring), Josh Key (muscle), and Jamal Lowe (knee) are all improving, but Williams predicts none of them will be ready for the weekend.
“I arrived at Fairwood ahead of Tuesday’s game to conduct a workout with the athletes who are preparing to play again.”I was glad to see them on the pitch after such a challenging workout, and I don’t think they’re too far away.
“They are progressing well, but they won’t be prepared to go on Saturday.”
Sam Park and Josh Ginnelly continue to be frequent absentees.
