Vincent Kompany claims to fully get Burnley supporters’ angst.
The Clarets supporters raised their voices during Saturday’s 5-0 loss to Arsenal.
Following Arsenal’s third goal in the second half, a large number of home fans left the stadium. After the fourth and fifth goals, there were more exoduses.
Burnley has only won three of their twenty-five league games this season, indicating a severe lack of success.
Kompany responded, “Of course, it’s 5-0 for the opposition,” when asked if he could relate to the annoyance of the supporters.
“After a game like this, I haven’t been to a club where the supporters are simply standing there applauding you.
“It’s hard, it’s a part of the hard times when you lose a game, but it’s the same anywhere else—you can be at the top of the league and lose 5-0.”
Now is the time for Burnley to rapidly learn from their errors and turn their attention to this weekend’s vital matchup against Crystal Palace.
Following such a dismal performance the previous time out, Kompany is certain that his Burnley team has to get back to practicing the fundamentals.
“This experience is the most important thing for me right now, but you can focus on the specifics of the game; it’s not about that,” he remarked. “It must revolve on the fundamentals, and we must master them before the next game.
“It has worked well for a lot of games. Although our fundamentals have been sound, we have made individual errors that have lost us goals and had unfavorable outcomes. That is what we need to focus on.
