Ronald, the Swansea City player who celebrates goals by leaping into the air in the manner of Cristiano Ronaldo, says there will be more.
At the Stadium of Light over the weekend, the Brazilian winger scored twice as the Swans defeated Sunderland 2-1.
The club’s victory was crucial since it kept them four points clear of the relegation zone despite several other teams in the Championship standings winning.
After spending a loan period with Portuguese club Estrela da Amadora, the 22-year-old signed with the team in January, and his brace were his first goals for the team since he left Gremio Anapolis, a team in his own country.
“My goal when I signed was to make the fans happy as well as myself, and I think after this game, everyone is happy,” Ronald stated.
“I am eager to pursue new objectives and I want to keep becoming better.
“I put a lot of effort into representing the team, and the staff, teammates, and fans have all embraced me with open arms.
“I’m going to put in a lot of effort to keep becoming better and gaining confidence. My relationship with the fans has grown as a result of these two goals, but I will continue to put in a lot of effort for them.
The winger’s first goal came from a rebound after Liam Cullen’s header was saved, and his second goal was a brilliant first touch and volleyed finish following a ball from Joe Allen.
He then on, “I’m very happy with the performance and the two goals.”
In addition to praising Ronald, captain Matt Grimes feels that the addition of Przemyslaw Placheta, a Polish wide winger, and South American player during last month’s transfer window has given the club more energy.
The midfielder remarked, “He’s been great, he is class, and he really does give us another dimension.”
“We want to develop and play attractive football, but with Ronald and Przemyslaw, we can harm opponents in behind if they don’t respect us and go to a man-to-man press.
“Having that dimension is beneficial, and playing with him is enjoyable.”
Grimes said of the triumph against Sunderland, which had come after two straight losses at home: “It was a class day, and a brilliant win.”
“The boys’ performance coming away from home and their tough run of fixtures speaks volumes about them,” the coach said.
We put a lot of effort into our work this week, and we believe that we can only become better. We wanted to start strong.
We had a great first half and had several more opportunities to score. We were worthy winners.
“The management frequently discusses it. We want to build and possess the ball in large quantities, but possession is useless if it is not used or placed in the back of the net.
Being aggressive both in and out of possession is something we have worked on a lot in training. We’ve had a solid week, and with the next game coming up, we have more time to work on it. I can’t wait to get back out there.
“We want to build on this momentum. We’ve recovered from a run of playing some of the greatest teams the Championship has ever seen, so let’s come out and play well.”
