BREAKING NEWS: Swansea City key players gets first minutes injury against development squad

According to information from the official club website, Joe Thomas of Swansea City participated in the Premier League Cup yesterday for the first time in two months against the Sheffield United Under-21 team.
Mason Holgate and Will Osula were on the Blades team that defeated Swansea City’s development team 5-1.
Thomas, 21, saw some action in a game for the first time since he suffered an ankle injury at the beginning of January.

He played 81 minutes, according to the club website, before being replaced by Iestyn Jones.

Thomas was a player for Clydach Vale and Cambrian before joining Swansea in 2021. Since then, he has been a vital member of the Championship team’s Under-21 squad and has participated five times in the Welsh League Cup this season.

His Swansea.com Stadium contract ends at the conclusion of this season, although the Swans have the option to extend it by one additional year.

In the future, the adaptable right-back—who can also play on the wing—will be keen to push his way into Luke Williams’ senior plans.

Due to his injury earlier in the winter, Thomas was unable to go on loan and get experience with a different Football League team. If Swansea is eager for him to go elsewhere to further his development, the door is still open for him to move into non-league football.

With 12 games remaining in the current season, the Swans are four points above the drop zone and presently sit in 17th place in the standings.

The previous time out, Williams’ team defeated Sunderland on the road with outstanding results. They are hoping to get some momentum now that they are back in action this weekend at home against Blackburn Rovers.
