Just In: Super Star’s Unselfish Reason for Not Testing at NFL Combine

The majority of LSU’s 2023 attention was focused on quarterback Jayden Daniels. LSU struggled to advance after winning the SEC West in 2022, despite having high expectations going into the season. The Tigers began 2023 ranked fifth in the nation, which was their highest preseason rating since 2016. Nevertheless, Daniels had one of the most statistically dominant seasons in college football history, breaking out and winning the Heisman Trophy.

NFL draft: Dan Orlovsky says Bears should take Jayden Daniels at No. 1

Daniels’s stock shot up in the NFL draft after his performance. On Friday, he told reporters that he wanted to give his teammates more exposure at the Tigers’ upcoming pro day. This was in response to a question about why he declined to take part in on-field training at the NFL scouting combine.

“They’ve worked so hard to get their opportunity in front of everybody and go out there and showcase what they can do,” said Daniels. “My teammates came first, not myself.”

On March 27 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Daniels and his Tigers teammates will display their talents at LSU’s pro day. Daniels, along with Caleb Williams of USC and Drake Maye of North Carolina, is one of the most fascinating quarterback prospects and is predicted to be selected among the first picks in the 2024 NFL draft.
