Newcastle now in to hijack another star who is also wanted by top European clubs

As reported by Portuguese newspaper O Jogo today, there is speculation surrounding the future of Porto star Evanilson, with clubs such as Manchester United, Arsenal, and Newcastle United being mentioned.

This story comes at a time when the English media has indicated that several clubs have been scouting the forward during his performances for Porto. It’s been suggested that both Arsenal and Newcastle sent scouts to Porto’s match against Estoril specifically to observe Evanilson’s performance.

O Jogo suggests that interest from the Premier League initially stemmed from Manchester United. In 2022, the Red Devils reportedly made a €65 million offer to sign Evanilson. However, Porto rejected United’s attempt and subsequently secured Evanilson’s future with a new contract, extending until 2027 and including a €100 million release clause.

We’ll have to wait and watch if Arsenal and Newcastle would genuinely pursue Evanilson’s signing in the summer as O Jogo doesn’t support the reports of their interest in the player and didn’t put either team on their scouting list.
Meanwhile, it’s unlikely that Manchester United would bring that much cash with them when they return.
