Newcastle United has fulfilled the requirements and formally initiated a transfer for the Chelsea left-back.
Newcastle United has initiated a permanent transfer for Lewis Hall, marking him as the club’s inaugural signing for the summer. The 19-year-old initially joined the Magpies on loan from Chelsea at the start of the season, with the agreement reportedly including a £28 million obligation to buy.
After their 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon, it’s understood that Newcastle United has met the criteria for the permanent transfer of Lewis Hall. According to journalist Ben Jacobs, “United can’t finish worse than 14th, thus triggering” the deal.
Despite starting consecutive games against Everton and Fulham, Lewis Hall was absent from the starting lineup against Spurs due to a quad injury that caused him to miss training during the week. He made a late appearance as a substitute in the match.
The England youth international has seen limited playing time this season, but Newcastle manager Eddie Howe remains optimistic about his long-term development.
Discussing Hall previously, Howe stated: “In terms of my thinking, I’m preparing for Lewis to be at Newcastle for many years. He was always brought in with a long term view, not a short term signing. He is a long term signing.”
“We have always had faith in his abilities and have been diligently honing his skills. He’s an incredibly talented young player with areas to further develop, like all our players. I firmly believe in him. My vision is for him to remain with Newcastle for the long term.”
