Player ‘turned down’ Leeds ‘on Thursday morning’ despite Whites paying fee requested for signing
Leeds United have joined Marseille in the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen’s Nadiem Amiri.
Earlier today, Kicker reported the Whites are ready to pay the fee requested by the German club to sign the midfielder. It was also stated the player needs to be convinced because he isn’t keen to play in the Championship.
Sky Deutschland journalist Marlon Irlbacher took to Twitter to back up Leeds’ interest in the 26-year-old.
Amiri has a year left on his deal and the Bundesliga side want €7m to sanction his sale. The journalist states Daniel Farke’s side would have paid this fee but haven’t managed to convince the player.
Irlbacher claims the Germany international has ‘turned down Leeds on Thursday morning’ because he only wants to join the Ligue 1 side.
Over at Sky Deutschland, they state the player wants to leave Leverkusen after being told that he’ll have a limited role under Xabi Alonso. The midfielder has verbally agreed a deal with the French club.
Despite having turned down Leeds in favour of Marseille, Sky state the latter haven’t yet agreed a deal with Leverkusen for Amiri’s transfer.
