Russell Martin is interested in signing Nathan Wood from Swansea as a replacement for Armel Bella-Kotchap, who is off to Germany, and Southampton is preparing an upgraded offer worth roughly £10 million for the player.
Swansea defender Nathan Wood is being courted by Southampton with a better offer.
With add-ons, the bid is estimated to be worth over £10 million. Russell Martin is eager to reunite with the 21-year-old player he brought to the Liberty Stadium last summer.
Swansea is thought to value the defender, who has one year left on his contract, at closer to £12 million.
Wood made 40 starts for the Swans last season under Martin, who guided them to tenth place, three points outside the playoffs.
After two seasons in command of the Welsh team, Martin left to become the new manager at Southampton after the club decided not to extend the contract of temporary manager Ruben Selles after their relegation from the Premier League.
Nathan Wood of Swansea is the target of an enhanced offer from Southampton.
