In the Men’s College World Series on Saturday in Omaha, Nebraska, No. 2 Kentucky defeated No. 10 North Carolina State 5–4 thanks to a walk-off home run by Mitchell Daly with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning. In their first-ever MCWS game, the Wildcats (46-14) prevailed thanks to Daly’s bomb. In terms of wins in a season, Kentucky also established a program record. Right-hander Derrick Smith of the Wolfpack (3-2) sent a 1-2 pitch to Daly, who easily lofted it over the left field fence.

In the game between Kentucky and NC State, Ryan Nicholson played a pivotal role by hitting his 22nd home run of the season in the bottom of the ninth inning, a shot that tied the game. This home run was served up by NC State pitcher Jacob Dudan. Johnny Hummel, who earned the win, pitched 1 2/3 innings of hitless relief for Kentucky.

On the NC State side, Alec Makarewicz contributed with a two-run homer, while Jacob Cozart went 3-for-4 with an RBI. Cozart scored a crucial run in the ninth inning on a wild pitch by Hummel, initially giving NC State a 4-3 lead.

Third Notification Florida 3, Texas A&M 3 2. In a game that started more than four hours later than scheduled due to bad weather, the Aggies defeated the Gators in Omaha when Caden Sorrell doubled home what turned out to be the game-winning run in the third inning. Florida (34-29) plays NC State in an elimination game on Monday afternoon, while Texas A&M (50-13) plays Kentucky on Monday night. The Aggies also received a run from Travis Chestnut and a run from Ali Camarillo on a wild pitch. In three innings of relief, Chris Cortez (10-3) gave up two runs and four hits before leaving with the victory.

For the Gators, Dale Thomas went 2-for-4 with a double that scored a run. Liam Peterson (3-5) of Florida took the loss after giving up three runs on four hits in just two and a half innings of work.
