Lance Jones, a fifth-year guard for Purdue, has reportedly committed to play summer league basketball for the Indiana Pacers. He played for the Boilermakers for one season.

Purdue’s fifth-year senior guard, Lance Jones, will have the chance to showcase his skills in the NBA Summer League with the Indiana Pacers, as reported by Scott Agness of Fieldhouse Files. Despite not being selected in the 2024 NBA Draft, Jones earned this opportunity after participating in a pre-draft workout organized by the Pacers following the conclusion of the 2023-24 college basketball season.

Jones played a pivotal role for Purdue during his single season in West Lafayette, contributing to their impressive 34-5 record, securing a Big Ten regular-season championship, and making an appearance in the National Championship Game. Prior to joining Purdue, he spent four seasons at Southern Illinois before transferring.

This summer league stint represents a significant opportunity for Jones to demonstrate his abilities and potentially earn a roster spot in the NBA. His journey from Southern Illinois to Purdue and now to the NBA Summer League underscores his perseverance and determination to pursue his basketball aspirations at the professional level.

Following his workout with the Indiana Pacers, Lance Jones expressed optimism about his performance, noting his competitiveness and high level of play alongside other participants. In a video shared by the Pacers, Jones reflected positively on his experience.

During his lone season at Purdue, Jones averaged 11.7 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game, showcasing solid shooting percentages with 41.3% from the field and 35.7% from beyond the arc.

Over his five-year college career, which included four seasons at Southern Illinois and one at Purdue, Jones amassed impressive statistics: 1,971 points, 479 rebounds, 361 assists, and 226 steals.

Jones credited his time at Purdue under coach Matt Painter for significantly enhancing his skills and confidence. He emphasized the rigorous competition and exposure to top-tier talent in the nation as key factors in his development.

Overall, Jones remains optimistic about his future prospects, buoyed by his experiences and growth throughout his collegiate career as he pursues opportunities at the professional level in the NBA.
