Breaking News: Fever’s Caitlin Clark breaks another WNBA record

Caitlin Clark, a rookie with the Indiana Fever, is making history on WNBA courts by living up to the hype. Clark had the most assists ever by a single player in a WNBA game with 19, which came in a 101-93 loss to the Dallas Wings.

Courtney Vandersloot set the previous record on August 31, 2020, when she dished out 18 assists to help Chicago Sky defeat Fever 100-77. Clark smashed that mark.

After the game, Clark mentioned, “I aim to set up my teammates for success. Sometimes, I might overpass, especially with AB [Aliyah Boston]. I’m always focused on getting the ball to our post players.”

In addition to her 19 assists, Clark scored 24 points and grabbed six rebounds. She was involved in 66 points overall, either by scoring or assisting, which is the highest by a player in a single WNBA game, surpassing Diana Taurasi’s previous record of 65 points set in 2006.

Clark’s remarkable performance didn’t stop there. As the top pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, she became the first rookie in WNBA history to reach 400 points and 200 assists in a single season, and only the ninth player overall to achieve this.

Currently, Clark is averaging 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game and has been named an All-Star.
