Breaking: Just In Another Top Talented Star signs new record contract with Dolphins

The highest-paid defensive back in NFL history is once again Jalen Ramsey.

Ian Rapoport and Cameron Wolfe of NFL Media report that Ramsey and the Miami Dolphins have reached an agreement on a three-year, $72.3 million contract extension. The highest average yearly salary for a defensive back in league history is $24.1 million.
Ramsey’s new contract only narrowly surpasses Patrick Surtain II’s 4-year, $96 million arrangement with the Denver Broncos on an average annual basis.

Ramsey now holds the record for the highest-paid defensive back in NFL history thanks to the second contract he has ever signed. When he inked an extension with the Los Angeles Rams in 2020, he had already achieved that goal.

Ramsey was acquired by the Dolphins from the Rams during the previous offseason. After missing the first part of the season due to a knee injury sustained during training camp, Ramsey quickly returned to playing at a high level. Despite appearing in just 10 games, the 29-year-old finished with three interceptions and was selected for his seventh consecutive Pro Bowl.
