Abdul Fatawu Issahaku ‘completes medical’ as Leicester City transfer details revealed
The latest Leicester City news as the winger looks set to become the club’s eighth signing of the summer transfer window.
Enzo Maresca is reportedly closing in on his eighth new signing of the summer transfer window, with a deal for Abdul Fatawu Issahaku almost complete.
Leicester City have strengthened the right wing position this weekend with the addition of Yunus Akgun, who has signed on an initial loan from Galatasaray. The club now look to be closing in on a second signing in that position.
Fatawu is expected to sign on loan from Portuguese side Sporting Clube de Portugal, having been left out of the side’s first team plans this season. According to A Bola , the 19-year-old is already in England and has completed his medical with City, with an announcement expected soon.
The report says that the teenager will sign on loan for the season, with the option of a deal becoming permanent next summer. It is said that City will pay a fee of €17 million (£14.6m) if they earn promotion back to the Premier League and if the player plays 60 percent of City’s matches during the season.
Fatawu joined Sporting in April 2022, after the Portuguese club beat off competition to sign him from Ghanaian outfit Steadfast FC. The youngster played in the Champions League for the club last season, and was part of the Ghana squad who took part in the World Cup in Qatar.
He will become the third winger signed by Maresca this summer, following the transfers for Stephy Mavididi and Akgun. The latter could make his debut in Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup clash against Tranmere.
The additions add to an area where City were short on options. Maresca has turned to youngsters Wanya Marcal and Kasey McAteer in matches so far, with both getting on the scoresheet in the last two weeks.
