Wolves target Man City’s James McAtee as Citizens make improved £52m offer for Matheus Nunes… and Pep Guardiola’s side look to HIJACK Brighton’s deal for Valentin Barco
Wolves are very keen to sign Manchester City‘s James McAtee but it would be treated separately to the deal for Matheus Nunes.
City have made an improved offer of around £52m for Nunes and Wolves like McAtee and his clubmate Tommy Doyle.
Ajax, Sheffield United and Leicester City also like McAtee with a move to Holland particularly appealing as a potential replacement for Mohammed Kudus.
However, City are not willing to sell the 20-year-old as he is viewed as a player who can compete for a starting place in the long term.
Pep Guardiola’s side will consider a loan if it is to a club they feel will further his development
Furthermore, Kalvin Phillips has no desire to leave City despite the pending arrival of Nunes.
A number of Premier League clubs have been looking into a loan while City would also consider selling but the England international still wants to fight for his place.
The midfielder has struggled for game time since his arrival from Leeds United last summer.
With Mateo Kovacic arriving earlier this summer, and Nunes on his way in, Phillips may struggle for minutes yet again this season.
Elsewhere, Pep Guardiola’s side are working on the addition of left-back Valentin Barco ahead of competition from Brighton, Juventus and Chelsea.
They are also working on another South American target as City look to tap into the market, as they have done in recent years
