On both ends of the ball, the Baltimore Ravens looked like themselves for the first time this season for the entire four quarters, crushing the Buffalo Bills 35-10 on “Sunday Night Football”. Running back Derrick Henry helped them become unstoppable on the ground, but they also disrupted everything Bills quarterback Josh Allen tried to do on defense. Henry never looked back after breaking for an 87-yard touchdown on the first play of the Ravens’ opening possession.
He finished the game with 24 touches for 199 rushing yards, one rushing touchdown, and three receptions for 10 yards and a receiving touchdown. The NFL recognized him for his outstanding performance from beginning to end. Henry, who has won this award several times in his career, was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Derrick Henry is in his tenth season and has 2,110 career carries, but he doesn’t seem to be slowing down at thirty years old. He has carried 80 times this season for 480 yards (first in the NFL) and five touchdowns (tied for the most in the NFL), averaging a remarkable 6.0 yards per carry.
Henry may be the missing element the Ravens have been seeking to improve their Super Bowl chances, having been on the verge of success in recent seasons.
