According to Randy Miller of NJ.com, superstar outfielder Juan Soto has received a contract offer from the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Monday evening, Jon Morosi of MLB Network verified that report.

The Dodgers are among the five teams that have reportedly extended offers to Soto. Soto has also had offers from the Toronto Blue Jays, New York Mets, New York Yankees, and Boston Red Sox.

Dodgers Have Made Contract Offer to Juan Soto in Free Agency: Reports

Miller claims that during their discussions last week, Soto and his agent Scott Boras were presented with contract proposals from all five teams. Miller adds that Soto is “thought to be looking for a 15-year contract worth over $700 million.”

According to reports, Soto spoke with these five teams in Southern California last week. Although the Dodgers’ interest in Soto was not entirely well-known, the fact that they are making him an offer indicates that they are committed to pursuing the generational talent.

With Teoscar Hernández currently a free agent and Mookie Betts heading to the infield, the Dodgers have a glaring need in the outfield. Given his age and skill level, Soto is among the best free agents in MLB history, even though the Dodgers might yet sign Hernández. The Dodgers are obviously serious in bringing Soto to Los Angeles after winning the World Series and spending $1.4 billion throughout the offseason.

Although the five offers’ total figures have not yet been made public, more details should be made public in the days ahead. The Dodgers’ interest in Soto will be further illuminated by those details. The Dodgers shown last winter that money is not a barrier, though, and it’s obvious they’re serious about perhaps acquiring the star outfielder this offseason.
