Sky Sport Italia and La Gazzetta dello Sport report Milan need ‘one last effort’ to sign Mehdi Taremi from Porto, being close to agreeing on the striker’s transfer fee.
The Iran international is Milan’s primary target to strengthen their attack in the last days of the summer transfer window. Stefano Pioli is pushing to get a backup for Olivier Giroud and Taremi has been on the club’s radars for a few months.
According to Sky Sport Italia and Gazzetta, Milan have raised their offer to €15m, which is close to Porto’s asking price.
Gianluca Di Marzio claims the two clubs are now negotiating over the payment methods and instalments, while according to Gazzetta, the Portuguese side expect a new offer close to €20m.
However, both media claim Porto are now open to negotiating with the Rossoneri, especially because Taremi’s contract runs out in June 2024 and the player has already made it clear that he’d like to join Milan.

MILAN OPTIMISTIC ABOUT LANDING PORTO’S MEHDI TAREMI
Milan are growing optimistic in their move to land Porto striker Mehdi Taremi, who is also interested in the switch.
The Rossoneri had submitted an offer for the Iran international yesterday and were awaiting a response from Porto. Gianluca di Marzio has reported that contacts between the two clubs have been continuous recently and Milan are looking to leverage the fact that Taremi’s contract at the Portuguese club runs out next summer.
Milan have grown in confidence about the deal and they believe that Porto could accept the fee of €15 million, which includes bonuses. But they would want different payment terms as compared to what Milan are currently offering.

An agreement is yet to be found but Milan believe it can be reached, as the saga is turning into a race against time as some technical and bureaucratic issues would need to be sorted out in the move as quickly as possible, with the window about to close soon.
