Virginia Tech football: Son of former Virginia Tech standout commits to the Hokies

Virginia Tech has secured another key addition to its 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of three-star athlete Luke Stuewe. This commitment is particularly meaningful for Hokies fans, as Luke is the son of former Virginia Tech wide receiver Michael Stuewe, who played for the Hokies from 1994 to 1997. The elder Stuewe was a standout during his time in Blacksburg, appearing in 32 games and recording 53 receptions for 689 yards and five touchdowns.

Luke Stuewe, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound athlete from Avon Lake High School in Avon Lake, Ohio, brings versatility to the Hokies’ roster. He has the ability to play either wide receiver or safety at the collegiate level, showcasing speed and athleticism that impressed Virginia Tech’s coaching staff. While some might see his offer as influenced by his legacy, his skills earned him a spot on the team independently of his family connection. Despite missing a portion of his junior season due to injury, Stuewe’s potential remains evident.

Virginia Tech extended its offer to Stuewe last summer, recognizing his abilities and future impact on the team. His commitment marks the 17th pledge for the Hokies’ 2025 recruiting class, which continues to build momentum. Stuewe’s decision comes shortly after the Hokies landed four-star wide receiver Snook Peterkin on Friday, highlighting a productive weekend for Virginia Tech recruiting.

Stuewe’s addition strengthens the Hokies’ roster while maintaining a connection to the program’s history. Fans familiar with Virginia Tech football during the 1990s will appreciate seeing another Stuewe contribute to the team’s future. Whether playing on offense or defense, Luke has the potential to make a meaningful impact for the Hokies.

Virginia Tech’s coaches and fans alike are thrilled to welcome Luke Stuewe to Blacksburg, marking another step forward for the program as it continues to build a strong recruiting class for 2025. Welcome home, Luke!
