The USC Trojans’ 2025 recruiting class has taken another hit as three-star QB has flipped his commitment to the Tennessee Volunteers. A native of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Morris opted to stay closer to home rather than head to Southern California.
As the early signing period approaches on Dec. 4, distance often becomes a deciding factor for recruits, especially those planning to relocate far from home. Morris’ commitment shift seemed increasingly likely, as he visited Tennessee twice during the season but did not take a trip to USC.
After announcing his decision, Morris shared his thoughts with On3’s Chad Simmons. “It is a different standard when you are an in-state recruit and get to stay home and play for Tennessee,” Morris said. “Tennessee has been pushing for a while, and I have been thinking about it for a few weeks. I really knew after the Kentucky game.”
The pivotal moment for Morris came during his visit to Knoxville on Nov. 2, when the Volunteers defeated the Kentucky Wildcats. He returned to Tennessee’s campus on Nov. 23, and the experience solidified his decision to flip his commitment.
“I got there and saw again how genuine the people were,” Morris told On3. “I felt the love from the fans and had that connection with everyone. The official visit this weekend was like the icing on the cake for me and my parents, but I’ve known about my decision for a few weeks. The opportunity at Tennessee is great for me.”
Morris’ decommitment drops the Trojans to the No. 14 recruiting class in the country for the 2025 cycle. Earlier on the same day, USC lost another recruit when linebacker Ty Jackson flipped his commitment to the Florida Gators.
USC’s recruiting class now stands at 21 commitments, but with National Signing Day still ahead, additional surprises and flips could emerge. The early signing period will be a critical time for the Trojans to solidify their class amidst these recent losses.
