Fans are still interested in possible fits even though Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning won’t be able to enter the NFL draft until 2026. This is more of a fun exercise regarding Manning’s ideal landing destinations because a lot may change between now and the 2026 NFL draft. Luke Easterling of Athlon Sports put together a list of some of these top prospective fits, which included the New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Rams. The team is probably eliminated from consideration for the Manning sweepstakes if teams are looking to acquire a quarterback in the 2025 NFL draft.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are another team that Easterling said would be a perfect fit for Manning. “Teams like the New York Jets (Aaron Rodgers) and Los Angeles Rams (Matthew Stafford) could be looking to move on from aging veterans potentially heading into retirement, while others like the New York Giants (Daniel Jones), New Orleans Saints (Derek Carr), Pittsburgh Steelers (Justin Fields, Russell Wilson) and Tennessee Titans (Will Levis) could be looking for long-term upgrades over what they currently have at the top of the depth chart,” Easterling wrote on October 14.
Following the Denver Broncos’ release of their former five-year, $242 million quarterback, Russell Wilson signed a one-year contract with the Steelers in 2024. Wilson and Justin Fields will both be free agents in 2025, but the Steelers may decide to re-sign one of the veterans in 2026 as a possible backup quarterback in case Manning becomes available.
Since the star is anticipated to become the Longhorns’ first quarterback in 2025, Manning will need to strengthen his NFL draft stock for the time being.
