At 6’2” and 205 pounds, Nickel checks many physical boxes for a successful quarterback. Although shorter than recent Miami QB signees like Emory Williams and Judd Anderson, his height aligns with that of accomplished quarterbacks like Cam Ward. Nickel first rose to prominence as a sophomore starter for Milton, a top team in Georgia’s competitive 7A classification. That season, he threw for 2,507 yards, 24 touchdowns, and eight interceptions while adding 208 rushing yards and three scores, leading his team to a state semifinal appearance.

Nickel’s junior year was even more impressive. He guided Milton to a 13-2 record and a 7A state championship, amassing 3,914 passing yards, 39 touchdowns, and just five interceptions, along with 181 rushing yards and six touchdowns. Continuing his dominance, Nickel’s senior year saw him lead Milton to an undefeated regular season and secure the No. 1 seed in the Georgia playoffs. Through 13 games, he recorded 3,033 passing yards, 36 touchdowns, and seven interceptions.
