Two Virginia Tech Offensive Players Set to Enter Transfer Portal
Virginia Tech football continues to see roster changes as two offensive players have announced their intentions to enter the transfer portal. This follows an earlier announcement that three defensive linemen would also be transferring. The transfer portal officially opens Monday and remains active until December 28, and more Hokies are expected to join the exodus.
On Saturday, redshirt offensive lineman Lance Williams revealed on his X account that he plans to transfer and seek a new opportunity for the 2025 season. A three-star recruit in the 2023 class, Williams did not see action during his freshman season. This year, he played only three snaps in Virginia Tech’s November victory over Boston College.
Additionally, walk-on quarterback Jackson Sigler also announced his decision to enter the portal via X. Sigler, who hails from Stafford, Virginia, and attended Mountain View High School, has been a depth player for the Hokies.
Despite Sigler’s departure, Virginia Tech’s quarterback room remains well-stocked, with freshmen AJ Brand and Kelden Ryan joining next season. The futures of Kyron Drones, Pop Watson, and true freshman Davi Belfort will further shape the position.
These departures bring the total number of Hokies entering the portal to five. Earlier this week, defensive linemen Khurtiss Perry, Malachi Madison, and Ishmael Findlayter announced their intentions to transfer. Perry, who transferred from Alabama, spent only one season in Blacksburg. His departure comes as no surprise, as coach J.C. Price declined to comment on him in November, hinting at dissatisfaction.
As head coach Brent Pry navigates these roster changes, the Hokies face the challenge of maintaining depth and preparing for future seasons.
