FSU Lands 5-Star Nebraska DL Transfer
Florida State has secured a major addition to its roster, earning a commitment from four-star defensive line transfer James Williams. The former Nebraska standout announced his decision on social media, joining the Seminoles as one of the top players in the Transfer Portal.
Williams reunites with several familiar faces in Tallahassee, including defensive coordinator Tony White, defensive line coach Terrance Knighton, and safeties coach Evan Cooper, who were part of the Nebraska staff that initially recruited him.
His journey began at Iowa Central Community College, where his talent was spotted during a Cornhuskers summer camp in 2023, earning him a preferred walk-on offer.
At Nebraska, Williams quickly made an impact, earning the nickname “Sack Man” for his pass-rushing prowess. As a sophomore in 2024, he played in every game, tallying 14 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and 5.0 sacks. His performance established him as a disruptive force on the defensive line.
Standing 6-foot-6 and weighing 250 pounds, Williams has two years of eligibility remaining. Ranked as the No. 17 player overall and the No. 3 edge rusher in the Transfer Portal by 247Sports, he carries an impressive four-star ’92’ grade, signaling high expectations for his contributions to the Seminoles.
