Auburn Adds Defensive Line Talent via Transfer Portal
Auburn has made its first move to bolster the defensive line through the transfer portal, following the departure of two players at the position. According to Pete Nakos of On3, the Tigers have signed defensive lineman Dallas Walker, who previously played for Texas A&M and Western Kentucky.
Walker began his college career at Texas A&M, where he appeared in two games, recording three tackles and a pass deflection. He then transferred to Western Kentucky, where he showcased his skills over two seasons. During his time with the Hilltoppers, Walker played in 22 games, tallying 54 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, one interception, one pass deflection, and a forced fumble.
In On3’s Transfer Portal Industry Rankings, Walker is rated as a three-star transfer, ranking No. 721 overall and No. 67 among defensive linemen in the portal. At 6-foot-4 and 325 pounds, the Nashville, Tennessee native was also a three-star prospect in high school. He was ranked No. 513 nationally and No. 57 among defensive linemen, holding offers from seven SEC programs, along with Oklahoma, which had not yet joined the conference at the time.
Walker becomes Auburn’s ninth portal addition, joining a class ranked No. 6 nationally and second in the SEC, trailing only Ole Miss. His arrival helps address the losses of Gage Keys and T.J. Lindsey, who recently entered the transfer portal.
Walker’s veteran presence adds depth and leadership to a defensive line that will feature a younger group next season. His experience will also aid in the development of Auburn’s highly-rated defensive line recruits, including five-stars Jared Smith and Malik Autry, as well as four-stars Jourdin Crawford and Antonio Coleman.
This move strengthens Auburn’s roster and underscores its commitment to building a formidable defensive unit for the upcoming season. Walker’s addition not only fills a gap but also enhances the potential of Auburn’s defensive line for years to come.
