The Las Vegas Raiders have announced the signings of running back Chris Collier and defensive end Andre Carter II to their active roster. To make room, the team placed defensive end Maxx Crosby and running back Sincere McCormick on injured reserve due to ankle injuries. Both players will miss the remainder of the 2024 season.

Collier, who initially signed with the Baltimore Ravens as a free agent, joined the Raiders’ practice squad in Week 12. In his final season at Lock Haven in 2023, he rushed for 1,393 yards and 12 touchdowns, while also catching 22 passes for 238 yards and three touchdowns. He was named a First Team AFCA Division All-American for his performance.

Carter, previously part of the Minnesota Vikings practice squad, now has the opportunity to see more playing time with the Raiders. After going undrafted in the 2023 NFL Draft, Carter signed with the Vikings’ practice squad and appeared in 12 games. At Army, he posted 15.5 sacks in 2021.

Both Collier and Carter are expected to get playing time due to the injuries to Crosby and McCormick, but with the Raiders’ future uncertain after this season, they face a challenge to secure a long-term spot on the roster. Las Vegas, currently tied with the New York Giants for the worst record in the NFL, is focused on draft positioning for the 2025 NFL Draft and has been linked to top quarterbacks like Shedeur Sanders from Colorado. If they miss out on Sanders, they may look at other options, including Cam Ward from Miami, Jalen Milroe from Alabama, Quinn Ewers from Texas, or Carson Beck from Georgia.

For Collier and Carter, their immediate focus is on proving themselves and earning another NFL contract, rather than worrying about the team’s draft prospects.

Meanwhile, Crosby has expressed the mental toll the Raiders’ losing streak has taken on him, admitting that the recent struggles have made him feel like he was losing his mind.
