Mi’Quise Grace, an FCS All-American edge transfer, has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats, giving them a valuable addition to their defense.
Nick Roush of KSR claims that Grace made her Kentucky commitment on Sunday. It happened while Grace was spending the weekend in Lexington.
The outstanding defender, who excelled at the FCS level, will undoubtedly have an impact in Lexington thanks to his exceptional skill set and unwavering work ethic.
Grace, a 6-foot-4, 255-pound edge rusher, gained notoriety while playing for South Dakota. With 64 total stops, 18.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and three passes defended, he was selected an FCS First-Team All-American and Missouri Valley Defensive Player of the Year for the previous season.
Grace finally decided on Kentucky after weighing offers from Southern California, Mississippi State, Cincinnati, Texas A&M, and Oklahoma. He was recruited in large part by associate head coach Vince Marrow, who gave him first priority once he declared his intention to transfer.
Before going to South Dakota in January 2021, Grace participated in track and field during her high school years. As a true freshman, he only played in four games and recorded three tackles. In 2023, he appeared in all 13 games, including one start, and finished with 34 tackles, further expanding his role. He had a breakthrough season in 2024, helping South Dakota get to the FCS Championship semifinals.
Grace will strengthen Kentucky’s defense, which is already very good. After a poor season last year, the only question left is if the offensive has improved. It remains to be seen.
After all it went through in 2024, the Kentucky football program was in dire need of another huge infusion. Another defense under coach Mark Stoops is capable of causing some trouble in the SEC.
