Neil Warnock Send Huddersfield Town A Great Message Ahead Of Championship League

The Terriers will face two of the Championship’s half a dozen new boys in their opening two games of the new campaign and the manager expects them both to be tough opposition

Terriers boss Neil Warnock believes the Championship will be an even tougher nut to crack this season thanks to the make-up of the sides coming into the division from both directions…and he expects his side to find that out first hand over the next two weeks.

With newly-promoted Plymouth and relegated Leicester up first for Huddersfield Town either side of a Carabao Cup meeting with Middlesbrough, Warnock is not expecting to have an easy start to the new Championship campaign.

But as long as his side are able to get their own opponents saying the same thing about them by the time further Championship games against Boro, Norwich City and West Bromwich Albion roll around, Warnock will be happy enough.

He said: “I think the fans have got behind us. It’s going to be a hard start; they’re difficult games aren’t they? The six teams that have come into our league, I think they’re all improved from the six teams that departed, so I think it’s going to be twice as difficult – but as long as it’s difficult for teams that play us, I’m not too concerned.”

Plymouth have confirmed that they have already sold out their full allocation of home tickets, while at the time of writing the away end looked to be heading the same way.

Warnock hopes that will add up to an excellent atmosphere at Home Park, saying: “They’ll sell out, it’s a full house. They’ve had a fantastic time. [Steven Schumacher] was my manager of the season last year, and I’ll get a good reception there until the whistle goes.

“But they’ll be alright. They’ll be comfortable this year, and I think they’ve spent a few quid on players as well.”
