According to Phil Hay, Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray has been cut from the England Under-19 team due to a minor fitness issue.
The Athletic journalist announced the news on his personal Twitter page, where he also stated that the team is attempting to control his workload in order to ensure his availability for their Championship match against Millwall.
Under Daniel Farke’s guidance, the 17-year-old has participated in every match so far this season, stepping up in the absence of some of the club’s key players during the summer transfer window.
At a critical moment, he has stepped forward.
Despite his club’s rocky start to the new season, the young footballer has won over supporters and non-supporters alike with his performances at Elland Road. He has stepped up to fill the void left by departed players after the exodus from Yorkshire following the club’s relegation.
As he continues his quick ascent to become a key member of Farke’s first-choice team, he will be trying to keep recent additions Ilia Gruev and Glen Kamara out of the team following a string of impressive performances.
Archie Gray not going away with England's U19s. Leeds United withdrawing him from the squad because of a minor fitness concern. Tyring to manage his load and make sure he's fit for Millwall. Played in every game so far this season. #lufc

Both Kamara and Gruev came on deadline day; the former was a substitute in Leeds’ 0-0 draw with Sheffield Wednesday; nevertheless, neither was regarded fit or prepared to play right away.
By making this decision, the team is showing their confidence and trust in the midfielder, ensuring he doesn’t worsen a potential injury, and communicating to the player that they will still rely on him despite the entrance of more experienced players as they ensure his readiness for their upcoming match.
