DONE DEAL: Hokies secure top 100 recruit through transfer portal

Virginia Tech Basketball: Hokies Add Top 100 Transfer Prospect

Since the end of the college basketball season, it’s been a relatively quiet period for the Virginia Tech Hokies. Head coach Mike Young made some notable staffing changes—parting ways with two assistants and bringing Chester Frazier back as his top aide.

While the transfer portal has seen multiple Hokies exit, the team had only secured one incoming player—four-star forward Amani Hansberry—until this week. Hansberry, a 6-foot-8 talent with two years of eligibility left, follows Frazier from West Virginia to Blacksburg.

On Monday, Virginia Tech landed a major addition in freshman guard Izaiah Pasha, who announced his transfer from Delaware. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound guard from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, made an immediate impact last season, starting 33 of 34 games. He averaged 11.9 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.9 assists per game, with shooting splits of 52% from the field, 33% from three, and 77% from the free-throw line.

Pasha’s commitment is a significant win for Young, especially since the talented guard had previously listed Gonzaga, Texas Tech, and Penn State as his top options. Although it’s unclear when Virginia Tech entered the race, they ultimately secured his pledge. With Jaydon Young and Brandon Rechsteiner in the portal and Ben Hammond, Tyler Johnson, and Jaden Schutt returning, Pasha is expected to start next season. The Hokies may still look to add a wing player.

Pasha earned CAA Rookie of the Year honors and delivered an outstanding performance in the conference tournament, including a standout showing in the championship game with 21 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

Welcome to Blacksburg, Izaiah.
