Four players set to miss out on Newcastle United’s Champions League squad

Later this month, when Eddie Howe is getting ready to submit his team, Newcastle United will begin play in the Champions League.
Along with Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan, Newcastle was placed in Group F. On September 19 (5:45 p.m. BST kickoff), they will play Milan at the San Siro in their opening group round matchup.
And by Monday, September 4, The Magpies must submit their Champions League roster.
17 players may be named in the roster for the Champions League without any limitations. Clubs must then include up to an additional eight homegrown players in their team in order to name more players.

To name a full squad of 25 players, at least four of the eight homegrown players must have received club training. A club’s squad sizes will be adjusted if it is unable to meet the homegrown or club-trained player quotas.

Although players born on or before January 1, 2002 must be listed on the Champions League squad lists in order to be eligible to play, they are not required to be a part of the 25-man squad.

Players may be named on “List B” in any number, and must submit their names by midnight on the day before a game in order to be eligible to play.

Elliot Anderson, Sean Longstaff, and Paul Dummett are the only club-trained first-team players for Newcastle, hence they can only select a ‘List A’ squad of up to 24 men.

Four players among the Magpies’ 28 first-team players who are currently eligible for the “List A” squad must be left out.

Given that Newcastle’s first team has four goalkeepers, Mark Gillespie is probably not going to be selected for the Champions League squad while the other three spots are being taken.

Since Newcastle would lose a spot in the team without Paul Dummett, his status as a club-trained player essentially guarantees his inclusion.

The only three senior outfield players still playing who didn’t start a single Premier League game for Newcastle United last year are Matt Ritchie, Javier Manquillo, and Emil Krafth.
