Here on Vital Luton Town, we published a piece last week congratulating Tom Lockyer on his selection back to the Welsh team.
Even though I have little interest in international football, our article, “Luton Town Captain Returns to the International Fold,” said that I would make the effort to watch how Tom performs if picked.
Sadly, it won’t be necessary since Tom has been forced to withdraw from the Welsh team due to a quad injury that kept him from playing in his recent first home Premier League game against West Ham United.
Tom was replaced at halftime during the Carabao Cup match against Gillingham, which was the last time we saw him on the field.
In hindsight, Tom might have benefited from a rest for that match, or maybe he was just itching to play in front of the home crowd after his struggles against Coventry City in the Play-Off Final at Wembley.
We probably won’t ever know.
But right now, it’s crucial that the medical team make every effort to quickly place Tom back at the center of the Hatters’ defense.
