Due to the host team’s obligations in Europe, Luton Town’s trip to Aston Villa in late October has been postponed.
On Saturday, October 28th, the Hatters were supposed to go to Villa Park; the match was not initially chosen for live television coverage.
However, due to their obligations in the Europa Conference League, Aston Villa will be in play on Thursday, October 26.
The game has been postponed as a result, and Luton’s match at Villa Park will now take place on Sunday, October 29, instead. The game will start at 2 p.m., but live TV coverage will not be available in the UK.
Luton Town issued a statement that read, “We apologise to any supporters inconvenienced by this fixture amendment.”
The week before Villa’s match against Luton, Unai Emery’s team will play AZ Alkmaar on the Thursday prior to that week. Villa will then fly to the Netherlands for that match.
Aston Villa, situated in Birmingham, was drawn to play in the Europa Conference League alongside AZ, Poland’s Legia Warsaw, and the Bosnian team Zrinjski Mostar. Aston Villa qualified after placing seventh in the Premier League last season.
The match will mark Luton’s first encounter with Aston Villa since the two teams squared off in the EFL Cup’s First Round in 2016, but it will also mark the Hatters’ first visit to Villa Park since the EFL Cup’s Second Round in 2002.
