JUST IN: ANOTHER LUTON TOWN PLAYER CONFIRM EXIT

Striker Joe Taylor is to be loaned by Luton Town to League 2 side Colchester United.

The 20-year-old will move on a season-long loan from the Premier League newboys to the Essex-based club.

Taylor’s move comes after his move to join Luton Town in January, having joined the Hatters from Peterborough in January for an undisclosed fee.

He has so far made six first-team appearances for Luton, and then nearly managed a heroic moment in that time when as a substitute, he thought he had put Luton in front in the play-off final against Coventry only to be denied by a VAR review.

The striker would then score in the penalty shoot-out that sent Luton into the Premier League for the first time.

Colchester’s confirmation means Taylor is their fourth new loan signing and 10th overall, although 4 are intended for the club’s academy squad.

The U’s had intended to unveil Taylor before their fans on Saturday (05/08) during their league opener against Swindon Town, only for the game to be postponed due to heavy rain rendering the pitch unplayable.

The Essex club will instead start their campaign tomorrow (08/08), when they travel to play Championship club Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup.
