Nottingham Forest receives transfer boost as they confirm the signing of another brilliant star on two-year deal

Captain Joe Worrall has signed a new contract with Nottingham Forest.

The Reds have confirmed the defender has put pen to paper on a two-year extension to his current deal. It will keep him tied to the club until at least the summer of 2026.

Nigel Doughty Academy graduate Worrall has made 220 appearances in all competitions since breaking into the first-team in 2016. He joined his boyhood club in 2011 and came up through the ranks.

Chief football officer Ross Wilson said: “We were pleased to reach an agreement with Joe recently to extend his contract. And I know that Joe was equally pleased to do so.”
It has been a tough few weeks for Worrall. He recently lost his uncle, sergeant Graham Saville, in tragic circumstances. Just days later, the skipper put in an outstanding display as Forest beat Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

“He’s been incredible,” Cooper said afterwards. “I’ve known what was going on before it was made public. He’s put himself second for his family and for the football club.
“I think the football club has helped him, in terms of giving him a bit of a release. The guys showed him a huge amount of respect in the dressing room after what he’s been through.
“I cannot speak highly enough of the man that he’s been over the last week or so. I know how important today will be for him, and it will give him and his family some respite.

“Nothing can make what happened any better, but at least this gives them some nice feelings for a short while. I can’t speak highly enough of Joe, with what he and his family have been through. A lot of that result was for them.”
