Wilfred Ndidi, a midfielder for Leicester City, has been linked to a shock transfer to Turkey.
Fenerbahce is thought to be interested in making a move for the 26-year-old before their transfer window ends on Friday (September 15).
Gazete Vatan reports that Fenerbahce have “increased their contacts” for the central midfielder, who has been crucial to Leicester’s style of play under Enzo Maresca in his new, more forward midfield position.
According to the article, Ndidi, whose contract is up next summer, “favors” leaving for Turkey before the deadline. It is extremely improbable that he will leave despite their interest.
Due to Dennis Praet’s injury, City manager Enzo Maresca recently said that he intended to add another midfielder before the transfer deadline, which was over two weeks ago. James McAtee, a midfielder for Manchester City, nearly accepted a loan from the team but ultimately chose Sheffield United of the Premier League.
The City manager said when asked by Sky Sports if he was satisfied with his team: “Yeah, the guys that we have, they were all our aims.
We may have needed an additional midfielder during Dennis Praet’s three-month injury, but as the transfer window is already closed, the situation is over.
Leicester won’t be willing to allow Ndidi go, which is almost inevitable given that Maresca already believes that he is a midfielder short. A January transfer might still be possible, especially if he declines to sign a new contract, but an immediate transfer is most likely off the table.
