Callum Wilson, a striker for Newcastle United, has agreed to a one-year contract extension with the Premier League team.
The 31-year-old, who has been the Magpies’ top scorer for the past three seasons, has now signed a contract extension with the club until 2025.
Since joining from Bournemouth in 2020, the England international has scored 40 goals in 79 league games.
That puts him fifth on the club’s all-time Premier League goalscorers list, and with only eight more, he would be second only to Alan Shearer.
“I’m delighted to extend my time here,” Wilson said on the club’s website.
“It’s a fantastic football club; I’ve been welcomed from the moment I walked in the door, and now the club is heading in a fantastic direction and on a journey, so it’s nice to commit my future to being a part of that.”
“We’ve got some great things coming up, and I think being around here, the city, and the fanbase is what players dream about, so I can’t wait to be here for the next few years.”
“When I first joined the club, I had ambitions to return to the Premier League after being relegated with Bournemouth, and I mentioned Europe and getting to 100 Premier League goals in the first few interviews.”
“They were and still are my ambitions.” I’m on my way to joining the ‘100 club,’ and being Newcastle’s second all-time Premier League scorer would be an incredible achievement for me, having looked up to Shearer for many years.
“There have been so many fantastic names at Newcastle before me – goal scorers who have worn the number nine – and it’d be great to join them in the record books during my time here.”

Last season, Wilson’s performances helped Newcastle finish fourth in the Premier League and reach the Carabao Cup final.
“He’s a highly motivated individual, and I’ve never seen Callum not motivated to score goals.” I believe that’s fantastic for a striker.”
“We’re very pleased because Callum has been an integral part of our success,” said manager Eddie Howe, who previously worked with Wilson at Bournemouth.
“He’s an outstanding person and an outstanding footballer, and I’m delighted he’ll be with us for a longer period of time.”
