Aston Villa head coach Unai Emery has revealed left-back Alex Moreno is available to feature to Crystal Palace after making a recovery from injury, while Diego Carlos has been ruled out.
Moreno has been sidelined for nearly four months with a hamstring injury and returned to training with the first-team group last week. He played a key role in the club’s turnaround last season and registered four assists in the 14 Premier League starts he made after joining the club for £13 million from Real Betis in January.
Carlos has joined Jacob Ramsey, Tyrone Mings and Emi Buendia on the sidelines after picking up a small hamstring problem in the 3-0 defeat to Liverpool last time out. The loss at Anfield was Villa’s second defeat of the campaign, after they lost 5-1 on the opening weekend of the campaign at Newcastle.
After wins over Everton and Burnley, Villa then booked their place in the Europa Conference League group stage by beating Hibernian 3-0 at home to claim a 8-0 aggregate victory over the Scottish side. Emery’s side are looking to return to winning ways this Saturday against Palace, who have made a steady start to the new campaign having taken seven points from their first four league games.
Ahead of Villa’s clash with the Eagles, Emery gave a team news update at Bodymoor Heath. He said: “Every player that came from the national team, came back really good. The players worked here as well good.
“Some players who were injured are progressively better. Alex Moreno is training with the group, Jacob Ramsey is close to being with us. Diego Carlos and Tim are out. Bertrand Traore is also close to starting back with us. We are ready for tomorrow.”
