Despite defeat Nottingham forest brilliant star provides shining light

Nottingham Forest lost 2-0 against Manchester City yesterday but in Nicolas Dominguez, the Reds had one shining light. The Argentine was making his first appearance since arriving from Bologna.

Talk about a baptism of fire. The 25-year-old must have dreamt about making his Premier League debut but it’s hard to imagine him banking on it coming against the treble winners.
Dominguez has played in some big games before, however. With that in mind, he wasn’t fazed by coming up against a City side that boasted world-class players all over the park.

The talented player looked quality during yesterday’s defeat. He played the full 90 minutes and showcased exactly what he’s all about to the travelling Forest faithful.

Dominguez signed for Forest during the summer transfer window. The Reds parted with a small sum of cash and let Remo Freuler go to Bologna as part of the negotiations.
The man who has played 11 times for Argentina certainly looks like he will provide more to the Forest team than Freuler. He didn’t really suit the style Steve Cooper fancied playing but Dominguez seems useful.

Who Scored showcased just how well he played yesterday. He finished the game with a passing accuracy of 88.9% from his attempted 45 passes during his first appearance.

Dominguez also completed four of his five long passes. It highlighted that he’s not afraid to mix it up with his passing and he appears comfortable in possession.

The player topped off his debut by showing that he’s not afraid to get stuck in either. He finished the game with five tackles; the most of any Forest player against the champions.

Forest midfielder Dominguez offers shining light against City

This performance alone suggests that Forest might have hit the jackpot with Dominguez. The Reds look to have signed a real gem of a player and it’s hard to imagine him being left out too much.
Competition for places is now rife in midfield at the City Ground. With Ibrahim Sangare, Orel Mangala and Ryan Yates also in the squad, it looks like an exciting time.

Dominguez looks to possess some real star quality though. At 25-years-old, he’s approaching his prime and it’s now exciting to see what the Argentine can do against some of the other teams in the division.
